Hello everyone! Crazy and very exciting news! I have been accepted to participate in the World Race Gap year semester! You may be wondering what the World Race is all about, so I will explain all this in my first blog post by telling you the who, what, when, where, why, and how of the journey I will be traveling on next semester!

Who:

I will be in a squad with around 35 people. We will be split up into different teams when serving on the field, but I will be staying with my squad the whole time. I will be serving and living with my squad through the course of this six months.

What:

The World Race (Gap Year) semester is a 6 month mission trip. During those six months I will be serving and doing ministry in 3 different countries, all while living out of a backpack.

My journey will start in thick forests, rugged highlands, and beautiful beaches of Nicaragua. Known as, “The Land of Lakes and Volcanoes”. While this nation is beautiful and filled with so much history, it is actually the poorest nation of Central America. Most Nicaraguans live off scraps and almost 80% of them live off less than $2 a day. While in Nicaragua our squad will be doing community development by focusing on discipleship and relationship in local neighborhoods. During my time in Costa Rica our squad will set an example on how you can incorporate Christ into every single aspect of your life.

Next, I will stay in Central America but travel to Costa Rica. Here life is very easy going and slower paced. Here I will find jungles, volcanoes, delicious coffee, and beaches. While I am here the squad will be doing evangelism, prayer walks, home visits, teaching, serving in daycares, teaching English, and feeding programs. I will spend most of my time teaching and sharing Gods love to the children of Costa Rica.

I will finish my Gap Year Semester in Cambodia, Asia. Here I will get to experience delicious food, open air markets, and traveling everywhere in tuktuks. Cambodia is still healing from an awful genocide in the 1970s but have a hopeful outlook on the future. Most of the ministry while I am here will be focused on teaching English and sharing the Gospel in schools. Evangelism will be another main focus of the squad while we are here.

When:

I will be leaving at the beginning of January 2021 and I will return in late June!

Where:

I will be in Costa Rica 1 1/2 months, Nicaragua 1 1/2 months, and Cambodia 3 months.

Why:

As some of you know I have felt called to missions for a long time, I was looking into this trip very early this year and everything had got moved around. I decided to go to my fall semester in college but after a lot of prayer and this opportunity that came up I have decided to walk in obedience and go serve for six months. As there could be traveling in my future with nursing this will be a great way for me to see what it’s like and doing missions work at the same time! I am truly so excited for this humbling experience to be the hands of feet and Jesus and serve his people!

How:

The first way you can help me through this trip is prayer! Prayer for peace and safety through this trip for my squad and I! The second way y’all can help me, and this is going to be the challenge, is by financial support. My end goal to travel on this amazing journey is $10,500 in just a few months. This cost will cover everything(travel, food, etc). I know that if God wants me to go on this journey to serve him, he will provide. I am believing that! But, I will not be able to do this alone and I will need your help! Saying that, there will be different ways you can help, I will be selling shirts and you can also donate to me through this blog account. Also if you have any work you need done get in contact with me and I would love to work for you! If you have any questions about this please ask!

Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to read this! I will update this blog occasionally while I prepare for the race, but very frequently while on the mission! If you want to keep up with my trip there is an option to subscribe via email at the top of my blog if you want to get a notification every time a new post is made! I can’t wait to see what God is going to do on this journey and I can’t wait to share it will y’all!
